SEALS are an excellent unit for operating in the mountains.
Ok first of all; yes. The US military has specialized mountain fighting units. And several specialized mountain fighting training schools (one thing about having an entire continent as your home means that whatever the terrain you can find a perfect example).
However from the very beginning the entire idea behind the Navy SEALS was that they would be an elite force which didn’t focus on only one unique skill. They would be generalists capable of doing almost any mission they could be called on. But they were also slated to be the elite. So every Navy SEAL receives a tremendous amount of training (“basic” training for Navy SEALS lasts about 2 years).
So our country expects SEALS to be capable of fulfilling almost any role anywhere in the World within a relatively short time.
However our SEALS are also never denied anything within reason for the fulfillment of those goals. So a SEAL unit which knows it will likely be deployed in certain environment at some time soon will have any amount of training at any US military school/training grounds that they choose before their mission.
