Yes, I understand Kraz is Ukrainian. Ukraine, in recent months, has increased procurement of military hardware (well, primarily seconds the Iraqi military rejected — in the case of the [BTR-4, 2S1 Gvozdika, & T-64BM BULAT](https://imgur.com/a/DIOjw)).
And thats just it. Its small numbers, relatively low quality (the seconds were rejected because of rust & damaged hulls) leading to high losses lacking the ability to reliably maximize on gains.
So considering we (US) signed a bill intent on giving non-lethal/lethal aid I suggested we give them MRAPs. We procured nearly 30k of the damn things just to be discarded — or worse given to untrained police forces for use on roads that can’t hold their weight (FFS we’ve given these things to school police departments through 1033). So, why not throw a few the way of Ukraine? We’ve provided more material support to random gangs of thugs — why not an actual country aiding to protect its sovereignty following government reform and subsequent incursion?
Sure the Kraz Cougar is okay. But we spent 50b on the MRAP program. The Kraz Cougar [can’t let soldiers escape a 600lb shaped charge like this](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b1/Cougar_Hit_By_IED.jpg). 60% of MRAPs are in storage (~12,000) and will be succeeded by the [JLTV](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Light_Tactical_Vehicle) in 2016. We have no use for them.
