To me it seems like they wanted to give the feeling that the plane was passing overhead. The black bricks remind me of a shadow. And since the silhouette is not symmetrical (the left wing and horizontal stabilizer are ahead of the right ones), this makes it seem like the plane is banking to the right. A turn to the right would hide the closest right side engine behind the fuselage from the perspective of the viewer.
