There being just one offensive mission involving the Vulcan is a common misconception about Operation Black Buck. There were actually 7 missions planned against the Falklands. [5 missions reached their target, with 2 being cancelled.](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Black_Buck) One of those was due to the weather, the other due to a failure of the refuelling system in one of the Victors. There were also 3 Vulcan’s capable of performing these missions, the famous XH558 was not one of them however as it had less powerful versions of the Rolls-Royce Olympus installed.
However, the Falklands war was the only conflict the Vulcan was ever used in anger with.
