So a bit of background on these guys. They’re known as Kustjägare, which translates directly to Coast Hunters, but more accurately to coastal rangers. They’ve got a good budget by Swedish standards, but there’s only about 130 of them altogether. The requirements to join are very very harsh, and only about 10-15 out of the hundreds who apply actually get to go through their 40 week training, and if they succeed, that’s followed by a far more intense 15 week course. They’re specialized in what’s internationally known as “green water operations”. They’ve been around since 1957. Their main task is reconnaissance and they’re largely independent from support units in order to be able to fight behind enemy lines.
