It’s not rocket science really, Iraqis tossed thick blankets over themselves to hide from coalition FLIR imaging during the 2003 invasion. Taliban does it all the time.
Eventually the blanket would warm up from the body heat though and be visible to FLIR again. Then you would just take it off and cool it a bit ~~(which would be harder to do in the hot environments of Iraq and Afghanistan).~~
The jackets on the OP are just layered (body heat dissipates between the layers, to some extent) and chemically coated fabrics & net material usually used in camouflage nets that still warm up, but slower than an average blanket would. So if you’re running about and sweating a lot, the jacket will eventually warm up and be less effective, then you just take it off for a minute or two and you’re good to go.
