Let’s be honest here: it’s not good as long as your degree matches your role in the bundeswehr. If you study ‘machine technics’ and your job in the army is to rebuild damaged tanks/ IFVs/ etc. Then yes, you’re one of 5% of the officer candidated who are lucky.
The rest studies something which will be useless for them while serving, or does a mechanized infantry officer need to know hoe to programm a computer because he studied IT ? Fucking bullshit.
You sign up for 13 years as officer in which it takes 4 years to study, the first two years are military service, then you go to college. So after studying you have 7 years to go…in which you will completly forget what you’ve actually studied since you didn’t needed it while serving…
Who is the better officer ? The one who studied something 4 years or someone who actually served in this time ? Ask your sgts or grunts but it’s obvious
