A view very similar to this made me pee on my boots once. They were testing some “nap of the earth” guidance system for the B-1 when I was stationed in 29 palms. The artillery unit I was with, was doing a field exercise and we were in the process of convoying to a new position when the range safety told us to pull over and wait, but didn’t give us a reason why. We didn’t know that it was because a B-1 was coming in. We didn’t even know they were using our range for anything. We all got out of our vehicles. About half of us took the opportunity to make a roadside head call. While I was in mid stream one of these big bastard flew over at what I’m guessing was about 100-150 feet. The plane came from leeward, and we didn’t hear it until it was over head. I did a shocked jump and then squat maneuver and pissed all over not one, but both boots. Something that big should not fly that low, and should not be able to sneak up on you.
