Well, many on this sub may disagree, but many things. The Super Hornet, for example, can carry Mavericks, and while its not a 30mm, the 20mm Vulcan is great for buzzing light enemy positions. Don’t get me wrong, the A-10 is amazing, and one of my favorite aircraft, but it’s fighting a mission that is currently, and probably never going to be needed. It was meant to kill tanks with a large gun and a ton of heavy anti tank missiles, not attack small groups of insurgents with expensive ammunition meant to go through heavy tank armor. The B-52 is different in the sense that there will always be a need for a big platform that can carry a large payload to carpet bomb or launch missiles from the safety from US airbases. But the need for a dedicated tank buster that was meant to take on large amounts of soviet (or any) tanks in really nonexistent. The Apache, for example, also has a 30mm gun, and can carry 16 Hellfire missiles and hover/linger really close to troops quite safely and effectively. The F-35 can carry ATGM, and so can drones. While the A-10 is unmatched in durability, payload, and lingering time, its mission can be fulfilled by both choppers and multi-role jets.
