Cool, EX-STS1 here, 10+ years as a sub sonarman. We carried the ASDS vehicle when it was around and did some work with SDV Team One. I was also an instructor at NSTCP for 4+ years.

I’ve been through the ice on the North Pole, my old sub has the record for most ice broken through by a 688i.

I don’t want to talk about the TPKs and RPM specifics, but the difference isn’t that large overall with well maintained Navy ships. Subs also have different types of props and different engine room configurations even among the 688s.
